Angela Terrell is a Sydney-based landscape and travel photographer who has loved photography since childhood - her experimentation only limited by the cost of film and development at the time. But old habits die hard, and even today she finds herself looking through the lens with consideration, as if there was only one chance to capture what’s framed.
To her, photography is a truly immersive experience, and she uses the lens to seize the everyday - focusing on colour, great expanses and candid moments - encouraging viewers to get lost within a tableau of scenes which, although fleeting, reflect the world’s beauty, its cultural array and the minute details that make the wondrous whole.
Working this way - documenting everything from life’s nuances to landscapes shaped by time - Angela captures what we all call home in a unique and powerful way. Her images are often rose-tinted, but she enjoys focusing on the beautiful, on the details and experiences that remind us that land, family and respect for those that are different is paramount, and we have a duty to protect them. Both satisfying and comforting, it allows the viewer to be reminded that bearing witness is an honour.
Angela has honed her art working with travel magazines both in Australia and abroad. Her work has been published with magazines including Lodestars Anthology, Conde Nast Traveller and In The Moment, to name a few. In 2022 she published her first book, Pearls.
